How to Show Commitment to Sustainable and Responsible Chemistry through Chem-MAP®

The BLC Chem-MAP® Programme is a new innovative ZDHC approved chemical verification system. Chemical companies, manufacturers of materials and products, brands and retailers all have future visions of a better, less polluted world with more consumer products made using responsible chemistry. All material supply chain organisations can get involved with Chem-MAP® to show commitment to the shared Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) objectives.


Help Choosing the Right Chemicals

Chemicals are essential in the manufacture of materials and products, but sometimes it is difficult to identify good chemicals from bad chemicals.

BLC have developed the Chem-MAP® Programme to make the process of choosing the right chemicals easier. Chem-MAP® verifies supplied chemical formulations to leading industry standards for manufacturing and MRSL standards.


Certified Chemical Suppliers

Chem-MAP® verifies chemical suppliers through on-site audits and chemical formulation testing. The Chem-MAP® audit checks the manufacturing processes, quality systems and stewardship practices.

Chem-MAP® also goes one step further to assess the chemical manufacturer’s supply chain, testing samples of raw materials and formulated chemicals.


Approved Chemicals to ZDHC MRSL

At the Chem-MAP® analytical laboratory, the chemical samples are extracted and tested for compliance to the ZDHC MRSL.

Chemical formulations are tested using fully validated methods for each of the listed MRSL chemicals.

ZDHC MRSL compliant products become Chem-MAP® Approved and are issued with a certificate.


ZDHC Level 1 & 3 Conformance

Chem-MAP® Approved chemical formulations are listed on the ZDHC Gateway.

ZDHC level 1 and level 3 conformance for chemical suppliers is achieved through completion of the Chem-MAP® Testing and Audit modules respectively. Re-certification is required after 2 years.
