What is the ZDHC MRSL?
The ZDHC V2.0 MRSL has been developed by an organisation commonly referred to as ZDHC. This tool is designed to support brands, retailers, suppliers, and manufacturers with a unified approach to managing chemicals during the processing of chemical formulations, within the apparel and footwear supply chain.
The ZDHC MRSL contains a number of restricted substances which are segmented into two chapters:
Who is ZDHC?
ZDHC stands for Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals which is an organisation dedicated to eliminating hazardous chemicals and implementing sustainable chemicals in the leather, textile, and synthetics sectors.
The ZDHC Programme is a multi-stakeholder group that includes brands, value chain affiliates, and associates, that work collaboratively to implement responsible chemical management practices.
How does MRSL Testing relate to the Eurofins | Chem-MAP® Family?
MRSL testing is a fundamental element of the Chemical Manufacturers Programme, within Chem-MAP® family. Chem-MAP® is a ZDHC Accepted Certification Standard for ZDHC compliance. Commercial chemical formulations (from chemical suppliers) are extracted and tested for compliance to the ZDHC MRSL at the Eurofins | BLC analytical testing laboratory. The testing methods used are fully validated for each of the ZDHC listed MRSL chemicals.
Compliant products contribute towards chemical companies becoming Chem-MAP® Certified; where applicable, chemical companies are issued with certification for their Chem-MAP certified products. Compliant chemical formulations, are uploaded onto the ZDHC Gateway and are awarded a Version 2, Level 1, 2, or 3 ZDHC compliance status, depending upon the Eurofins | Chem-MAP programme undertaken.
